First Ait Kit

MEDIC's founder Matt Rosefsky has two first aid kits: one for personal adventures into the wilderness as well as travel anywhere; and one for leading group expeditions. Please review this document for a listing of several models of Adventure Medical Kits (no, they don't sponsor Matt/us or anything :), which particular kits Matt uses, and kit contents. When guiding groups small and large, Matt uses the "Comprehensive" model medical kit. It's great to start with store-bought kit, and then add to it as you see fit. Over time, he has added items to his kit as he has encountered various challenges leading different types of adventures. Items highlighted in GREEN are what Matt has in his kit. How much he carries of one thing varies (numbers shown are what come standard with kit). Items in the "Comprehensive" column that are *not* highlighted, he *doesn't* carry. For personal adventures and travel, Matt uses the "Trail" model medical kit, which is no longer available. He has it jam-packed; it probably is the size of the "Weekender" more or less, available at your local friendly Great Outdoor Provision Co. and Walkabout Outfitter outdoor gear and apparel stores.

Thank you for taking a nicely stocked first aid kit into the wilderness with you. Doing so makes wilderness areas safer for all. Food for thought: consider carrying what you have been trained how to use; balanced with the fact that your pack may be space-limited, and if your kit is too heavy you might be too exhausted to render expedient care when needed.
