Action, Protest, and Rally First Aid

Photo collage

MEDIC SOLO's founder has served as a volunteer Street Medic during various protests where law enforcement officials:

  • forcefully instructed someone to stop providing CPR so they could clear a scene
  • prevented people from carrying a potentially critically-injured victim across a police line to an ambulance
  • "kettled" people on a street for over 11 hours blocking them that entire time from having any food, water, or a simple check-up by a neutral EMT
  • and more

Overview

The above and many other times, victims were prevented from seeking the assistance of professional medical care. If you physically are on the same side of a barrier as a patient, it may be up to you to render emergency medical care on your comrade. MEDIC SOLO's Disaster + Travel + Wilderness First Aid certification course, designed to hands-on train participants in rendering life- and limb-saving first aid for hours to days regardless of cause or situation.Pronouns and radical consent are an important part of our standard class; we do all we can to create a safe space for everyone. Register here (spaces limited). Enter whatever name etc. you want (for address, enter where you want your textbook shipped if you wish to have it mailed to you for advance study).

Actions, protests, rallies can be extremely dangerous, quick-changing environments. MEDIC SOLO does not offer Street Medic classes, however our 2-day dtWFA course will provide you with super-solid first aid skills, plus (if you indicate interest on our registration form) a special handout on action / protest / rally situations with tips on keeping yourself safe, and on treating harm done by many of the weapons used in these environments. After this class, get in touch with your community, network to find a Street Medic Bridge class: a ~half-day add-on which takes your dtWFA skills and supplements them with skills you'll need on the street.
