Rural Life First Aid

One of our favorite stories is when a graduate of ours shared that they used the skills they learned in class to diagnose and splint their goat's broken leg. It sure is nice being empowered to care for a bunch of things yourself when living out in the countryside, or even in a big city for that matter.

Overview

In rural areas, it can take a lonnnnnng time for an ambulance to arrive when needed. That leaves you to save the life and limb of someone who just suffered a tragic amputation from farm machinery or a power tool, or any of the many other traumatic or medical emergencies that can happen out there far from an ambulance service and thus one is even more out of luck – less likely to survive or make a full recovery – if it's going to be a long time before professional medical help arrives. How you treat a patient in the first five minutes can make the difference between life and death. Treatment during the minutes or hours after that can make the difference between limb and amputation. MEDIC SOLO's Disaster + Travel + Wilderness First Aid certification course, designed to hands-on train participants in rendering life- and limb-saving first aid for hours to days regardless of cause or situation.
